How to show off your outfit in all your photos

When you've put all that effort into an outfit, and you're wearing a dress that's perfect for the occasion, there's nothing worse than seeing the pictures he's taken isn't doing your ‘fit' justice. Get him to choose a part of your outfit to focus on, whether it's the full look or your fave accessory so he can zoom in or out as required.

Boys' top tips

Stand about 6ft away from your girlfriend so you can capture her head-to-toe look. Holding the camera lower may help to get the full outfit in and make her look taller.

What camera angles work best for you??

Girls, we've all had photos shared from an angle we'd rather people didn't see. Those pictures from below our faces… seriously?

The best angle is one from higher up. Having the camera above eye level is flattering on everyone. Look extra cute with a little look over the shoulder, a slight glance up and a small smile. Ideally you'll be holding a drink or moving your hair back, capturing you in all your natural beauty.

Boys' top tips

Be patient. Take lots of photos from higher angles as your girlfriend tries out different looks, and tell her if her hair is out of place or her makeup looks smudged. She’ll thank you later. Avoid a wide angle where you can for a more flattering shot.

How to avoid shadows and bad lighting

When it comes to light, you want it as close to natural light as possible. If it's too dark then your skin will look faded, too bright and it'll highlight any shiny patches and wash out any make-up.

While we understand this, your man might not.

Boys' top tips

Turn that flash off. That's all you need to know. The more natural the lighting, the better your girl will look. Taking your pics outside is the best way to avoid unwanted shadows.

How to keep your shots versatile

Taking a full length picture is all about the pose. You want your hip back and one leg forward with the knee slightly bent. It'll give your body the best position, and give any new shoes the spotlight they deserve.

Push your shoulders back and your chest forward. It's a confident pose and one that will really pop in pictures.

Stand back. Don't you dare crop out any part of the outfit. When it comes to close-ups, it's all about the detail. If she's done something special with her makeup, she wants you to capture it.

How to keep it cute, candid & approved

There's nothing like the fear of being tagged in a photo you weren't expecting. What has he seen? What has he shared? Candid photos can capture some of our most personal moments, and when done right can be a beautiful, natural look. Being candid is all about being natural, from walking to drinking or sitting down and enjoying your surroundings.

When done wrong, they can quickly turn a boyfriend into a man you once knew.

Ask their permission. While you might think you're taking a lovely photo, they might have a very different view. Show it to your partner before sharing it anywhere, and only post it if they're happy. Make her laugh - it's the best candid look.

How to capture the perfect backdrop

POV: you're in front of some beautiful scenery or a stunning landmark and you wanna make the most of it...

This could be a once-in-a-lifetime moment, and it needs to be photographed properly. Keep some distance between you & your backdrop with you framed at the centre.

Boys' top tips

Turn on that panoramic mode. Seriously. Flip your phone so you're holding it horizontally, and use panoramic mode to capture both your partner and the thing she's standing in front of. It'll show both of them off in all their glory.
